Solea Moraito and Diego del Morao

Soleá Falseta: Moraito and Diego Del Morao plays with José Mercé

Soleá Guitar TAB + Explanations  + Video:

The following Solea was first performed by Moraíto, and as years passed by, his son, Diego del Morao, continued to developing this beautiful soleá.

Soleá, first known as Soleares, is probably one of the most old "Palos" or styles and rithms of flamenco. In the begining, Solea used to be performed just by the singer, the "Cantaor".

Solea [Soleá] or Soleares comes from soledad, wich means loneliness. It is a bit sad, yes, I know, however, majority of flamenco music was born in the core of the pain and suffering of its people.

As you see, the proper way to write the following word [Soleá] includes the apostrophe on the á.

The Spanish Guitarist Manuel Moreno Junquera, Moraíto Chico, -one of the best guitarist ever-,  was born in Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Spain, in 1956. He left us in 2011, at the same place, in Jerez de la Frontera on that black day of  August 10th. I hope you like the following lesson: Soleá by Moraíto and Diego del Morao:

Moraíto was the most in-demand accompanying guitarist of his generation, and was the regular accompanist for José Mercé, Diego Carrasco, Camarón de la Isla, and many others.

His powerful and round sound made Moraito an extraordinary guitarrist, capable to drive rhythm and exceptional rasgueos wherever he goes.

He was the nephew of the original Moraíto (Manuel Moreno a.k.a. Manuel Morao, "Morao"), and son of Juan Moreno, also known as Moraíto Chico (the first).

His son, Diego Del Morao, is probably the best flamenco guitarrist nowadays. Diego is very young and is already a leyend. He is developing an entire music line in terms of rythm, falsetas, melodies, techniques and feelings.

Moraíto has recorded two solo albums:

"Morao, Morao" and "Morao y Oro". Moraito has participated in many instructional videos and scores booklet. Moraíto focused on basic principles and difficulties of the accompaniment of cante using bulerías, soleares, Malagueñas, Seguiriyas and Tientos and Tangos.

Soleá Moraíto Chico

Moraito Chico: He was a true genius. When it comes to innovation, he knew how to make it and enrich the flamenco guitar without ever losing the character and purity.

He expanded Flamenco's borders to the point of making it universal.

Soleá Moraíto is a piece of his own life. It represents the playing, the "toque" of Jerez.
He represents the very essence of flamenco from Jerez de la Frontera.
